Been awhile since the last time I wrote book review. Well after some thoughts, I think all my book/movie reviews are not actually a review, right? hahaha It's like my 'thought' about the story. Ok, so let's start this so-called-book-review.
I finish this book right after I watched the movies. In fact, I knew this novel since a loooong time ago but I didn't know that this novel is great. So it's like I ignored this. After I had known that this book turned into a movie, I was like O.O *oh God what have I done?* hahahaha I should have read this amazing novel earlier.
let's start with the synopsis! the story is first person point of view, Katniss' view. the story tells about her story trying to survive the hunger games. hunger games itself is a punishment-game made by the capitol to punish their people who against them. each districts have to send their 2 tributes to fight in this game, every year. 1 girl and 1 boy, 12-18 years old.
in 74th annual of hunger games, Katniss, from district 12, chosen as the female tribute. she's volunteer herself to replace her younger sister place. Peeta is the male tribute from district 12.
the stroy continue with how Katniss, Peeta and their 'trainers' or manager to make them remarkable before the games start. Katniss has arrow talents, and Peeta has frosting talents.
They even make a story to make them popular. it is "starcross-lovers". they pretend being in love with each other so the sponsors will pity them. and it works :) though Peeta's love for Katniss is real.
the story continue with them trying to survive in the games. the games held in a forest. how Collins tells the story in this part is pretty intense. I can't stop myself to read it. start from how Katniss try to get away from other tributes. search for a safe place to hide or sleep. find waters. how Katniss thought that Peeta betray her by join the other tributes to kill her. how Katniss wounded by fire. How Katniss meets Rue, their heartbreaking story when Rue's dead and how district 11 give Katniss bread for 'thanks'. Oh gosh ot was the saddest part in this story. A little different with the movie, and it made me tear-up. and then, they announce that the winner can be 2 people from the same district. it means Katniss and Peeta can win together.
the third part of the story continue with Katniss is trying to search Peeta, and she find him. unfortunately Peeta is hurt badly because of Cato from district 2. they try to stay alive together. and this is my favorite part because there are so many Katniss-Peeta moment here. I don't want to give spoilers hehehe.
I think I should stop here.
to conclude, both movie and novel are really great. I won't be disappointed to watch the movie if I read the novel first. the cast is also great!
besides, Hunger Games is my first fantasy novel I read in English. so it is pretty hard but fun!
I really hope I can write the reviews of Catching Fire(2nd book and my favorite) and Mockingjay(3rd book) later. I finished the three of them just one week hahaha.
